Mapping Out the Impact of the Covid-19 across the Dutch Economy by Sector, Region and Business size

published: 31-08-2020

To map out the impact of the current crisis across the Dutch economy, at the request of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Panteia has made a calculation of the economic effect on different sectors, regions and SMEs. These calculations are [INVALID]d on the macroeconomic scenarios provided by the Dutch Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB) on 26 March 2020 and furthermore on the CPB’s updated scenarios from 16 June 2020.

The results of this initial calculation indicated that not only closed sectors but also other sectors are hit hard by Covid-19. This result is cited in the Letter to Parliament from the ministers of the Ministry Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK), Finance and Social Affairs and Employment (SZW), concerning the extension of the financial support package for entrepreneurs and businesses (Noodpakket 2.0).

These calculations have been carried out by Ton Kwaak, Nora Cheikh, Dick Snel and Wim Verhouven.
