ITS opportunities for Serbia
In relation to the project “Development of a National Transport Strategy for The Republic of Serbia”, Panteia hosted a Serbian delegation to the Netherlands last week. The Netherlands was chosen as destination as it can help illustrate the majority of identified ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) opportunities relevant for Serbia. The delegation, consisting of employees of the Serbian road administration, the Serbian ministry for transport and infrastructure, as well as the Serbian Ministry for Construction (including rail construction), attended multiple meetings and tours which encompassed a technical or institutional aspect related to ITS deployment in the Netherlands.
Their visit comprised of site visits to the Amsterdam Traffic Control Centre and to the ProRail Traffic Control Centre in Amsterdam, as well as meetings with Connekt (ITS Netherlands) and NDW (National Access Point), and the municipality of Amsterdam on low emission zones. The delegation learnt a lot from these three days, with the benefit of having a better understanding of ITS as well as how to implement ITS solutions and governance related structures.
