State of Play and Future Challenges of Automotive Regions

Last week, Maria Rodrigues was invited to present at a seminar organized by the Automotive Regions Alliance (ARA).

The Automotive Regions Alliance (ARA) is a political network of regions dedicated to facilitating the successful transition of the European automotive and supply industry. This initiative, spearheaded by the European Committee of the Regions, aims to unite regions with significant automotive and supply sectors that seek to actively participate in decarbonizing the transport sector and contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal. The Alliance also focuses on strengthening regional industrial ecosystems and value creation, while ensuring economic and social cohesion across all European regions affected by this transition.

The seminar convened representatives from automotive regions, EU institutions, the automotive industry, social partners, NGOs, and other stakeholders to discuss the transition towards zero-emission road mobility, aligned with the EU's goal for 2035, as part of "The Route 35 Platform."

Maria Rodrigues presented "State of Play and Future Challenges of Automotive Regions," a study conducted by Panteia, Tplan, and Ramboll for the European Committee of the Regions (CoR).

The report provides insights into the preparedness of various European regions for the upcoming transformation of the automotive sector and suggests potential mitigation measures. Specifically, it offers elements for a regional transformation strategy and provides recommendations on key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor regional readiness.

For more information, please download the report here.

Or you can watch the recording of the seminar here and see Maria Rodrigues presenting the main findings of the report (from minute 09.47 onwards).
