Subsidy for Rhombus UPSIDE III COMP
For the 5th time, Panteia has successfully contributed to securing a significant European subsidy as part of the Rhombus Global Project. The amount, EUR 24 million (approximately 50% of total project costs), will be invested in the development and improvement of inland port infrastructure in the ports of Maastricht (Beatrixhaven) and Stein (Port of Chemelot). This funding supports the shift from road transport to inland waterways.
Research shows that inland waterway transport emits significantly less CO2 per ton-kilometer compared to road transport. Investing in inland shipping is therefore sustainable, smart, environmentally friendly, and contributes to a resilient transportation network. This is aligned with the key pillars of the European Green Deal and the European Commission’s Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.
The European Commission received a total of 408 applications for the 2023 CEF Transport Call, of which 134 were selected. Our "Application Rhombus UPSIDE III COMP (Comprehensive Network)" is one of the successful projects. Panteia is proud to have completed this application in collaboration with EGEN (PNO Group) and on behalf of the Province of Limburg.
